    North Carolina LCMHCA hours requirement

    A North Carolina Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) needs 3,000 total, 2,000 direct and 100 supervision (≥75 individual) before applying for the LCMHC license. The accrual period is no minimum duration in rule, per 21 NCAC 53 .0205, .0208.

    A North Carolina Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA) needs 3,000 total, 2,000 direct and 100 supervision (≥50 individual) before applying for the LCSW license. The accrual period is 2 to 6 years, per 21 NCAC 63 .0210.

    A North Carolina Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate (LMFTA) needs 1,500 face-to-face and 200 supervision (≥100 individual) before applying for the LMFT license. The accrual period is not less than 2 years, per 21 NCAC 31 .0204.
